Annual Christmas Concert, 18 December 2015

Our Christmas Concert in St Nicholas’ Church is a traditional annual event in our home town of Newport, Shropshire, and as compere and long-standing choir member David Tooth pointed out at the start of  the concert, this was the 72nd such concert.

Choir members always enjoy these occasions, which give us the opportunity to engage with our audience in the singing of Christmas carols, as well as performing seasonal and other favourites from our repertoire. This year’s event fully lived up to expectations, and the enthusiastic response of our large audience showed how much they had enjoyed it. As is the tradition at this concert, the choir served up mince pies and wine to the audience in the interval, which added to the conviviality of the occasion.

This was our choir’s last concert of 2015, and signalled the conclusion of a very successful year, in which we have performed a varied range of repertoire at a number of different venues. Our thanks go to our Musical Director, Vivian Redfern, and our accompanist and his assistant, Mike and Jo Ward. We are very fortunate to have such talented and hard working people to help us.

Our calendar of events for 2016 is already taking shape, and promises to be equally enjoyable.
