The Newport (Salop) & District Male Voice Choir will be joined by fellow singers from Wantage Male Voice Choir for a night of song in aid of the Newport Cottage Care Centre Art Room Appeal.

The connection with the Wantage Male Voice Choir came about after the Shropshire group was invited to sing at a memorial concert in Oxfordshire.

Ian Dunning, the choir’s spokesman, said: “The choir, a registered charity, and our friends from Wantage, are delighted to support this very worthwhile appeal within the town.

“A programme of show stopping songs – including popular and spiritual numbers – will be sung during the two-hour concert, conducted by the Newport choir’s musical director Vivian Redfern.

“Refreshments, included in the ticket price, will be served during the interval and a raffle held. The cost of tickets for this event will be £6.”

This fundraising concert will take place on Saturday September 19 at Cosy Hall, Water Lane, Newport, from 7.30 pm, and tickets can be bought from The Cabin on Stafford Street, in the town centre.
