Newport (Salop) & District Male Voice Choir on concert at Cosy Hall, Newport with Wantage Male Voice Choir

On Saturday 19 September we were joined by our friends from Wantage Male Voice Choir, under their musical director Judith Sawyer, for a joint concert in our home town of Newport, Shropshire, in aid of an extremely good cause – Newport Cottage Care Centre’s Art and Craft Room Appeal.

Cosy Hall was absolutely packed with over 140 people as both choirs performed a variety of songs, both separately and together, ranging from the popular songs of Cole Porter and Simon & Garfunkel,  to traditional songs, and spirituals. It was evident from the audience reaction that they enjoyed the concert as much as the choirs did, and when the final totting up of the proceeds is completed we are confident that we shall be able to make a significant donation to the appeal.

This was the second time that Newport (Salop) & District Male Voice Choir and Wantage Male Voice Choir have joined together in performance, and it was a pleasure for us to see our friends from South Oxfordshire again. We look forward, very much, to performing with them again in the future.
