Our 2015 schedule of concerts got off to a fine start on Friday 27 February , with our annual Welsh Night at Cosy Hall, Newport TF10. The event proved as popular as ever, with a large audience in attendance.
The choir gave an enthusiastic performance of a programme with a distinct Welsh flavour, compered by Glyn Thomas and under the direction of Vivian Redfern. Our soloist for this occasion was Penny-Robin Riddering, who performed two sets of short pieces on her harp, to the great enjoyment of all present.
This year’s concert was in aid of the chosen charity of the Mayor of the Borough of Telford & Wrekin, Councillor Malcolm Smith – Telford & Wrekin Arthritis Support Group (TAWSG), and the choir’s Chairman – David Tooth – had the pleasure of presenting Councillor Smith with a cheque for £500.00.
In keeping with the occasion some really tasty Welsh Cakes and Bara Brith with tea or coffee were served up in the interval, by members of our Ladies’ Committee, to cap off an evening that was very much enjoyed by both participants and audience.
As you can see from the photographs on this page, choir member Ian Dunning had set up his camera to give us a visual record of the occasion. Our thanks to him.
