Severn Hospice Lights of Love Service, St Chads Shrewsbury 6 December 2015

Severn Hospice Lights of Love 6 Dec 2015

Newport (Salop) & District Male Voice Choir has had the pleasure of performing at this annual event for several years, and we were delighted to be invited to perform again at what is always a very moving ceremony. The Lights of Love service provides an opportunity for people  to remember their loved ones who have passed away  and celebrate their lives, in a very sensitive environment. It is always very well attended, and this year was no exception, as large congregations gathered for two services, held two hours apart.

Our choir, directed by Vivian Redfern and accompanied by Mike Ward, was in very good voice and sang a short programme of three items at each service. Hafan Gobaith (Another Day) was a particularly appropriate piece, having been  written in support of Hope House Children’s Hospice near Oswestry, Shropshire, and its words of hope were absolutely suited to this occasion. In addition  we sang The Rose by Amanda McBroom, in an arrangement by Alwyn Humphries, and John Rutter’s Candlelight Carol. Both performances were very well received.

We very much hope to be invited to perform again at this ceremony in December 2016.

You can view a video of the choir’s performance of Candlelight Carol on You Tube. This, and the photographs on this page are courtesy of Photography by Renee.

You can also hear an audio recording of the choir’s complete performance at Lights of Love 2015, and see a slideshow of photographs from the event, courtesy of Photography by Renee. Many thanks to choir member Ian Dunning for his producing this audio / visual file.

Our last concert in 2015 is our very popular Annual Christmas Concert at St Nicholas’ Church, Newport, Shropshire. The date is 18th December, and the time 7.30 pm. Please see our Events page for more details.

Hopefully we may have the pleasure of seeing you there!
