Christmas Concert 2016

Our 2016 Christmas Concert took place at St Nicholas Church, Newport TF10 on Friday last, 16 December, and what a great night it was!

The church was nearly full to capacity as our choir, in company with Codsall Singers, sang a range of songs and christmas carols, with a fair bit of audience participation mixed in for good measure. As is our tradition at this event, during the interval our choir served festive drinks and eats to members of the audience, adding to the festive spirit of the occasion.

Newport (Salop) & District Male Voice Choir performed under musical director Vivian Redfern, and was accompanied by  Mike and Jo Ward. Our compere, David Tooth, was in great form, as he shared anecdotes and jokes with the audience, and kept the performance ticking along.

The ladies of Codsall Singers, under the direction of Jan Spencer, added a great deal to the occasion as they sang a delightful  programme of Christmas carols, and we thank them very much for joining us for the evening.

All in all a great time was had by members of both choirs, and it was easy to see that the audience thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

This concert marked the end of our singing year. We look forward to our 2017 programme of concerts, which will begin with our Welsh Night on Friday 3 March.
