Christmas Concert, 15 December 2017

St Nicholas Church in Newport, TF10 was filled close to capacity on 15 December, the large audience having gathered to join our choir and our friends the Codsall Singers, for our annual Christmas Concert.

This  event has an enduring appeal to the people of our home town, and once again a good time was had by all who came. The audience were in fine voice as they joined the two choirs in singing a selection of Christmas carols, and both choirs performed their mixed festive programmes of songs. As is our tradition, during the interval the gentlemen of the Newport (Salop) & District Male Voice Choir turned waiters, and served the audience with wine or soft drinks and minced pies. Our thanks to the ladies who organised the refreshments so efficiently.

Our compere, David Tooth, performed with his usual aplomb, as did the soloists of both choirs. Thanks are due to  the two Music Directors  – our own Viv Redfern and Codsall Singers’ Jan Spencer. Thanks, also, to our accompanists, Mike & Jo Ward. All these people put in a huge amount of effort to make this evening a success.

This was the last event of another successful year for our choir, and we would like to thank all the people who have supported us by attending our concerts during the year. We hope that we have provided you with good entertainment, and that you will want to come to our concerts again in  2018, when we shall be celebrating our choir’s 75th anniversary. Please keep an eye on the Events section of this website for details of our 2018 programme. These are posted to this website as and when they become known.
