It has been a few years since our choir last performed with the Burton Borough School Bands, so it was a particular pleasure for us to be able to share this concert with them, to mark the centenary of the end of the First World War.
Our programme contained a range of songs, and was designed to mark the occasion appropriately, including as it did a setting by Mike Sammes of Binyon’s poem For the Fallen, and also items such as World in Union and Let There be Peace on Earth.
Over many years the Burton Borough School Bands have performed with great accomplishment and enthusiasm, and never fail to give great entertainment. This concert was no exception, as the school’s Big Band and its Concert Band both performed sets, encompassing various musical genres.
All in all, a sizeable audience was splendidly entertained, as was evidenced by their enthusiastic applause.
