EAMVC Annual Charity Concert, 15 June 2019

For the second time in the past four years this annual event was organised by Worcester Male Voice Choir, and held in the magnificent setting of Worcester Cathedral. We were among seven male voice choirs, all members of the English Association of Male Voice Choirs, who gathered together to raise as much money as possible for two very worthy charities, St Richard’s Hospice and Acorns Children’s Hospice.

The massed choir comprised around 200 enthusiastic singers, and performed a varied programme which ranged from Mascagni’s Easter Hymn to Mickey Newbury’s American Trilogy via Dylan Thomas’s Sunset Poem. The massed choir was supplemented by a number of highly accomplished  guest performers who added much to the concert –  Curzon Brass, flautist Jenny Argent, soprano Alison Roddy, bagpiper Paddy Levack, organist Keith Hearnshaw, and drummer Casper de Vos. Compere was Sir Peter Luff.

All the choirs had been working towards this concert for several months, and it was great to see all that hard work come to fruition in this concert. It was enjoyed greatly by a large and appreciative audience, who demanded an encore at the end!

We now look forward to the EAMVC Annual Charity Concert in the summer of 2020.
