Our annual Welsh Night Concert, to mark St David’s Day, is always a favourite event in Newport’s musical calendar, and this year’s concert at Cosy Hall was no exception.
The venue was packed with people as the Newport (Salop) Male Voice Choir was conducted by our Musical Director, Vivian Redfern, and accompanied by Michael and Jo Ward in a programme with a very definite Welsh emphasis. Soprano Judy Foote added to the occasion, singing a selection of songs from shows, and also joining with the choir in a rendition of Soldier Lad / Keep the Home Fires Burning, to mark the World War One centenary.
A feast of tea and Welsh Cakes during the interval rounded off an evening that was a great success, and was enjoyed greatly by all who were there.
