Come and Join Us!

Our choir always welcomes new members to join us in song, and to maintain our numbers so that we can keep up the standard of our performances. At the moment we have about 40 members, which may give the impression that we have very adequate numbers, but the reality is that it is rare for all choir members to be available to sing at all the concerts, so we do have a need to boost our numbers.

We are a very friendly group of men, who enjoy singing a wide repertoire.  We take our singing seriously, and seek to maintain high standards, but at the same time we are all there to enjoy ourselves, so we make sure we have fun!

Research has shown that we can all improve our mental and physical health by singing in a choir. To mention a few of of these benefits

  • Singing lifts our spirits!
  • We get a great feeling of camaraderie from practising and performing with other like minded people.
  • When we sing we get more oxygen into our bloodstream, thus improving circulation and enhancing health.

Maybe you have thought of joining a choir, but think you wouldn’t be able to do this, either because you don’t think you are a good enough singer, or because you don’t read music?

We can reassure you on both these concerns.

Firstly,  you don’t like to sing like Sinatra to join our choir. In reality most men are able to sing in tune and hold a note, and  and that is really all that is required.

Secondly, although it is useful to you if you can read music, this is not a criterion for membership of our choir. In fact, a large number of our members do not read music.

If you enjoy singing, but are a bit nervous about singing in public, a choir will be great for you as you have the security of performing in a group. We are not looking for soloists, but if you decide that you would like to sing solos, there would be opportunities for you to do so.

So why not come along and give it a try, with absolutely no obligation to join? We practice on Monday evenings at 7.30 at Trinity Church, Wellington Road, Newport TF10 7HD, and would love to see you there!
