Proms & Prosecco in the Park, 2018

Proms and Prosecco in the Park is an open air event organised by Fizz Festivals, featuring a mix of local and professional performers. It is similar to the BBC Proms in the Park in style, and takes place on the last night of the BBC Proms season in early September in Chetwynd Park, just outside our home town of Newport, Shropshire. This was the second time that this event has taken place, and we were delighted to be invited to perform.

Unfortunately, the weather let us down on the day. The event was punctuated by several heavy rain downpours, and the evening was fairly chilly. Nevertheless, up to 2,000 people turned out, many of whom were clearly in high spirits as copious amounts of food and drink were consumed.

Our choir was in good form as we performed two sets during the afternoon and early evening, each of 20 minutes duration, and each containing a varied programme of songs.

The concert concluded with many of the the various performers joined together to sing traditional favourites, including Jerusalem and Land of Hope and Glory, in a grand finale that sent everybody home with a song in their heart.
